Junior Sous Chef

Our junior sous chef will be expected to motivate and supervise the Kitchen team and have responsibility for food storing, preparation, production, cooking and service in our restaurant. You must be energetic and enthusiastic with a real passion for food, constantly striving to push boundaries and exceed expectations.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • To assist with the day to day running of the kitchen
  • Assist the chef director with creative menu writing
  • Food ordering, ensuring that we uphold an excellent reputation with all suppliers
  • To ensure effective control of stock purchasing, receipt, storage, preparation and service with regard to quality, quantity and safety.
  • Management/documentation of health and safety
  • Training and development
  • Working and improving upon pre-set budgets
  • Inspiring, motivating and leading a team of junior chefs and kitchen porters
  • Complying with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
  • Keeping the cleaning rota up to date and ensuring all team members keep on top of the cleanliness of the kitchen and their responsibilities
  • Maintaining the highest level of food quality and production with the aim of consistently exceeding our guest’s expectations
  • Keeping recipe folder up to date
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with co-workers and customers.

Skills & Abilities

  • Experience as a junior sous chef in a busy kitchen preferred but not essential
  • Polished and professional approach to work
  • Outstanding communication and leadership skills
  • Capable of delegating multiple tasks

  • Enthusiastic team player
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines
  • High standards of cleanliness and hygiene
  • A strong understanding of produce and ingredients
